Imagine - John Lennon

Imagine

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say
I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope some day
You'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say,
I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope some day
You'll join us
And the world will live as one

how did you like the reading? Why? I chose that music, because it have a simple letter and nowadays  many people haven't time for think in things simple as a life, concern for the next. Today people value more "the have"  than be. A good world is far

English as a global language, a good or bad thing?

English as a global language, a good or bad thing?
by AnnaMaria Smolander

The English language is everywhere. The language of most of the Internet sites around the world is English. We are using this language to write our articles on this site, even though I am positive that English is not the first language of everybody using this website. It is not my first language, I come from Finland. I learned English at school. It is the most widely studied language in the world.

It is the language of media, medicine and business. Computing uses English as does the international airtraffic control. But is the spread of this language a good thing or a bad one, is the spread of one such a powerful language a disadvantage or an advantage?

This is a difficult question to answer. Academics in the field of linguistics have tried to find the best solution for this puzzle for decades now. One disadvantage which is often mentioned in this context is the fact that many languages have died because of the spread of English. Many still have lost a large number of speakers and are bound to be doomed in the near future. These are the disadvantages, and while they certainly seem gloomy, there are many advantages of having a global language.

Doctors, for instance, from around the world can communicate with each other while using one language. As a consequence of numerous people knowing this language there are less misunderstandings which of course in medicine could be fatal. People from all corners of the world can communicate easier because they share a common language. Media can more easily tell us the most recent news from all over the world. People can use the Internet as a tool for research, which means more people are being educated about different issues.

I am happy that my son will speak this wonderful language as his first language, I am sure that I will learn a lot from him when he enters school in the UK. However, I wish that my son would also be able to speak Finnish as this is my mother tongue. It is important for a person's identity to remember their roots, and language is a very integral part of one's identity. Are people whose languages are being lost because of the dominance of the English language losing their identities then? As you can see
the question is a difficult one to answer, and in my opinion there is no right or wrong answer.

Widely = largamente
Spread = espalhar
Bound = obrigado
Doomed = condenado
Misunderstandings = mal entendidos

I really liked, because talk about a question very important to days today. English is the language most want to learn.

Weight Loss: Intervention with the Use of Herbal Medicines

The use of herbal medicines is characterized by the use of medicinal plants in its different pharmaceutical forms. Various surveys indicate a significant increase in the consumption of herbal medicines by the population with the goal of controlling the weight or promote weight loss. Knowing that the prevalence of overweight is increasing in the world at an alarming rate, the goal of this study was to review the literature on the use of faseolamina in weight loss. According to the scientific literature supporting the use of faseolamina as in weight reduction treatment has been shown to be effective. The faseolamina is considered a "starch blocker", because its components are able to reduce the action of the enzyme alpha-amylase, responsible for the digestion of starch. Ed was riding his bicycle. A dog started chasing him. He yelled at the dog. Then he tried to kick the dog. He lost his balance. He fell off his bike. His head hit the curb. A neighbor saw him fall. She dialed 911. An ambulance arrived. It took Ed to the emergency room. But it was too late. The doctors could not save him. Ed died. Ed was the son of the governor of Texas. The governor and his wife were very sad. The governor didn't want other children to die. He didn't want other parents to suffer. He didn't want them to lose their children. He talked to the state lawmakers. He asked them to pass a new law to protect children. The lawmakers agreed. They were parents, too. They passed a new law to protect children. The governor signed the new law. The new law was a helmet law. Children had to wear a helmet when they rode a bike, or a sled, or a horse. Summer Job

It’s easy to find a summer job in this town because there are plenty of restaurants and bars that need extra help in the tourist season.
I’ve had a lot of different jobs here – I’ve been a pizza delivery person, a babysitter, a kitchen assistant… but this is the first time I’ve worked in a bar. The pay is alright and people here are cool, but I have to put up with late hours… oh, and drunk customers once in a while.
I’ve been here for about two months now. All in all, I like it, but the best part is – I have already saved enough money to spend a couple of weeks in New York visiting my old college roommate Christine.
We have been best friends since we were eighteen years old.
Chris has been here to visit me twice, so now it’s my turn to visit her. I’ve never been to New York before so I’m really looking forward to this trip.

Scientists look for clues on life's 'common ancestor'

New evidence from meteorites suggests that the basic building blocks of life are present on Mars, a study published in the journal Science shows.
A team of scientists based at the Carnegie Institution for Science, based in Washington, found "reduced carbon" in the meteorites and says it was created by volcanic activity on Mars.
Dr Andrew Steele, the team's leader, says the discovery begs a new set of questions - over whether the chemistry evolved to produce life.

118. Problems at Home

Emily sat down on the sofa. She took off her shoes. She put her feet on the coffee table. She leaned back. She picked up the remote and turned on the TV. It was 6 o’clock. The news was on three channels. She didn’t want to see the news. The news depressed her. It was usually about accidents and murders. There was too much bad news on the TV news. She found a talk show to watch. It was Ellen. She liked Ellen. Ellen was a comedian. She told good jokes. She showed animals doing funny things. She gave expensive gifts to her fans occasionally. This show was a rerun, because Ellen’s “live” show was usually on at 4 o’clock. But that didn’t matter to Emily. All she wanted to do was relax. Her life was one problem after another. Her husband had just lost his job. Her only child had dropped out of high school. Even worse, he had left home. He told his mom he would call from time to time. But he hadn’t called in two weeks. She was worried sick. She didn’t know where he was. She didn’t know if he was dead or alive. Her husband said she shouldn’t worry. He had done the same thing when he was 17. But when he found out that life on the road wasn’t as easy as he thought it was, he returned home and got his high school diploma.
